Absorption spectra corresponding to the 'A..='E. transition of Cr" in TmCr0.were studied. In the lowest energy region, R exciton lines with Davydov splitting wereobserved. Temperature and magnetic field dependences of the R exciton lines suggestthat the spin configuration of TmCr0. is T. above 5 K and the coexistence of F. andT. below 5 K. In the shorter wave length side of R lines, satellite bands (R; and R(.) ofelectric dipole origin were observed. It is shown that the R(... bands are the combinedexcitation of a Cr" exciton and the transition from the ground singlet state to the excited singlet states within the Tm" ground multiplet 'H., and they are induced by theanisotropic parts of the Cr"-Tm" exchange interactions.
