Optical Absorption Spectrum in YbCrO_3 under High Magnetic Field

Optical absorption spectra of YbCr03 have been investigated by using a pulsedhigh magnetic field. As the magnetic field is increased along the o-axis of YbCr0.at 4.2K, the energy position of the Cr" exciton -Yb" spin flip combinedtransition (7?' band) shifts to the higher energy side and its intensity becomes large.In the field region (H.>30 T) where the energy position of the 71?' band approachesto that of the magnon sideband (Cr" exciton -Cr" magnon combined transi-thong, the intensity of the 7?' band increases by one or two orders of magnitudeand then approaches to that of the magnon sideband. It was concluded that thenoticeable increase of the intensity of 7?' band under the magnetic field along thea-axis is attributed to the strong hybridization of the 7<' band and the magnonsideband.
