High Field Magnetization of Cr-Dimer Complexes

High field magnetizations of three Cr'-dimer COIIIPICX powders, [Cr.(acac).(4-X-phO).] (X=H, Cl, CH,), are investigated up to 60T at 1.3K, and successivemultistep metamagnetizations are found. They are explained by the model that twoCr" tons witla spin S of 3 / 2 form an antiferromagnetic dimer with the singlet groundstate and that the svaccessive crossovers w'ith the excited .5: 1, 2 and 3 states occurunder increasing magnetic field. Biquadratic excltange interaction should also betaken into account. Additional fine strt?ctures are observed and attributed to twokinds of dimers. Main exchange parameters of q-Cl-, H- and CH,-ph0 complexes aredetermined as -12.0K, -11.4K and -14.7K, respectively.
