Optical Spectrum of R'-Band in Spin Reorientated YbCrO_3 under High Magnetic Field

Optical spectrum of 7?'-band at 13705 cm ' in YbCr0. is observed in highmagnetic field up to 511 kOe. When the field is parallel to the c-axis, usual linearZeeman splitting is found in the low field region. However, the splitting above 300k0e decreases with increasing the field and an amalgamated absorption band isobserved above 400 k0e. Origin of the anomalous Zeeman effect is explained by thespin reorientation. The reorientation field observed in this crystal is much higher thanthose of the other orthochromites.
