Optical Investigations of YbCrO_3. III. : Cr^<3+> Exciton- Yb^<3+> Spin Flip Simultaneous Absorption

• Absorrtion srectra corresrondinu to the 'An.+'E. transition oj' Cr'f irnYbCr03 ware studied. In the lowest energy region, R exciton lines witF.t Davydovsplitting were obserxxed, and the uttagnitudes of the infer-sublattice excjton trans-fers were.obtained by the analysis of these spectra. In the shorter w:nve lengthside of R exciton lines, a band(7?') of electric dipole character was obserxed, whichhas an anomalous shape with a sharp cut-off at the lowest energy side and finestructure. The temperature and naagnetic field dependences of 7?' ba??d suggestthat it corresponds to the simultaneous excitation of a Cr" exciton and a spin-flip of the Yb" ground state. Frona the analysis of the anomalous slxape of 7?'band, a negative dispersion of the Cr" exciton was found to be - 16?sm-'
