• The decolorization effect of the ordinary indoor light on the Weigert-stained elastic fibers in SHRSP and WKY aortic media was studied. This effect is important to estimate the elastin amount in these vessels in relation to the vascular resistance. A light exposure for 100 days produced a decolorization both in WKY and SHRSP with a shift of the chromaticity coordinates towards bluish gamut. The transformation of the chromaticity coordinates from the x-y-Y' system to the U^*V^*W^* USC system revealed an increase in color distance by the light exposure. A possible oxidation process of the sealing material also produced decolorization, and the exposure to the indoor light strengthened this decolorization effect.
