Calcium concentration of the m-portion of crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) aesthetasc hair was estimated. Stainings used were as follows : Glyoxal bis (2-hydroxyanil) method : quinalizarin method ; Nishiyama's silver nitrate method ; and 8-hydroxyquinoline method. The concentration was estimated with the USC U^*V^*W^* coordinate system and with the spectral percent transmission. The results estimated by either technique well coincided. The calcium concentration in the m-portion was equivalent to around 100 mM in terms of calcium chloride.
