Scutellariae Radix augments ulceration but attenuates proinflammatory cytokine and chemokine gene induction in the small intestine during indomethacin-induced enteropathy in mice

• われわれはマウスにインドメタシンを投与することにより誘発される小腸傷害に伴う消化管出血および貧血に対して,オウゴンエキスの経口投与が促進的に作用することをすでに報告した。本研究ではオウゴンエキスの投与はインドメタシンの投与による小腸における潰瘍形成を促進することを見出した。また,インドメタシンによる小腸傷害に伴って,小腸における炎症性サイトカイン(IL-1β,IL-6)およびケモカイン(CCL2)の遺伝子発現量の増加が観察されたが,オウゴンエキスを投与することにより,これらの増加が抑制されることも明らかにした。本研究の結果は,オウゴンエキスがインドメタシン誘発性小腸傷害の増悪させることをさらに明らかにしたものである。オウゴンのこのような影響には,炎症性サイトカインやケモカインの発現の抑制を介した免疫・炎症応答反応の修飾が関わっている可能性がある。
