Examination and discussion upon a new phase detected in aged Fe-Co-Cr-Ni base heat-resisting alloys were made from correlations with additional elements such as C, N, Mo, W and Cb, precipitate reaction during aging, X-ray diffraction pattern, lattice parameter, specific gravity, and chemical component. It was concluded that the new phase should be a compound different from any well-known phases such as M_<23>C_6, M_6C and η' phase. It was presumed that this phase, which was newly named "π", might be the carbo-nitride having the following crystal structure : System……cubic Space group……Fd3c Lattice parameter……a_0〜about 10.75A Number of atoms per unit cell……104 Chemical formula……M_<11>(C, N)_2 (Cr, Co, Ni, Fe)_8 (Mo, W)_3-(C, N)_2 in the Fe-Co-Cr-Ni base alloy.
