Magnetic Properties of Amorphous (Fe_<1-x>Mn_x)_<90>Zr_<10> Ferromagnets

Magnetic properties of amorphous (Fe_<1-x>Mn_x)_<90>Zr_<10> alloys (x=0, 0.2, 0.4) have been studied by ^<57>Fe Mossbauer and magnetization measurements. The magnetic hyperfine fields in the alloys spread over a wide range extending from 0 to 350 kOe or so at 4.2K. By the relation between the mean hyperfine field and the mean magnetic moment of the Fe atoms, it become clear that each hyperfine field is proportional roughly to its magnetic moment in Fe_<90>Zr_<10>. Temperature dependence of the hyperfine fields reveals that the Fe atoms with small hyperfine fields, small magnetic moments, are subjected to low exchange fields and seem to be responsible for antiferromagnetic behaviors. The Mn atoms in these alloys are considered to interact antiferromagnetically.
