Beta Decay of ^<153>Nd and Reflection Asymmetric Deformation in ^<153>Pm

The level strtncture of Pm has been studied from the decay of "'Nd. The radioactivities153of "'Nd were separated from the fission products of "'U using the trpgraded KUR-ISOL. Aprecise decay scheme of "'Nd has been constrtrcted up to 2 lVIeV and 115 'y-rays and 36 levelswere involved in the decay schenae, in which 107 'y-rays and 28 levels were newly observed. Themultipolarities and E2 / M 1 mixing ratios of 1 1 'y-transitions were deduced frorn the meastnrementof internal conversion electrons, From the results of the angtular correlation measurements, thespin values of 450.5, 105.4 and 32.3 keV levels were dedtrced to be 3 /2", 7/2" and 5 /2", respectively and the previous assignments were confirtaaed. The half-lives of 32.3 and 105.4 keV levelswere determined to be 1.2(l) ns and 0.44(2) us, respectively and the enhanced El transitionswith B(El) = 10 ' x 10 ' W.u. were observed. The "'Pun level structure was compared withthe result of a calculation with a rotation-vibration coupling model (RVCllvI) and it was foundthat "'Pm has a typical nuclear structure of the def'orrned nucleus. lVIoreover, the observation ofenhanced El transitions between parity doublet bands indicates the possibility of the existenceof the reflection asymmetric deformation in "'Prn.
