Mossbauer Studies of Magnetic Inhomogeneity in Amorphous Fe-Zr-B Alloys

The Curie temperatures and the probability distributions of the magnetic hyperfinefields of amorphous Fe-Zr-B alloys were obtained from "Fe M6ssbauer studies. TheCurie temperature depends on composition and the mean magnetic hyperfine field isfairly independent of B concentration. The M6ssbauer spectra can be analyzed byassuming that the distributiorn of the magnetic hyperfine fields consists of two split-Gaussian distributions. From the concentration dependence of the intensity ratio be-tween two split-Gaussian distributions and the temperature dependence of the meanhyperfine fields, it is found that some of the Fe atoms have small hyperfine fields ascompared with those of majority Fe atoms and are located in low exchange fields.
