Electronic Structure of Alkaline-Earth Fluorides studied by Model Clusters. : II. Auger-Free Luminescence

• We present the results of' tnolectrlar-orbital calctrlations f'or BaFz. The discrete variational (DV)Xcx cluster method is applied to c;rlctrlations of Auger-['ree ltmzaainescence (AFL) spectrum andX-ray absorption near edge structture (XANIES). The AFL spectrtrraa is an;tlyzed by unaking trse oflevel structures of the model cluster. The theoretical spectrum r'eprodtrces xvell the characteristicsof the experiraaental one. Only the physical process corresponding to the 5.6 eV eznission in AFLis fotrnd to be localized. The X-ray absorption spectrtrtrr for Ba O@,3 edge in BaFz is calculatedand cotnpared with the excitation spectrum of' AFL at 5.6 eV in BaFz. Tlae theoretical axbsorptionspectrttna reproduces well the characteristics of' the experimental excit?xtion spectrutn of AFL inthe energy range less than 10 eV frotn the edge.
