Evolution of Light Transmissivity of Tungstic Acid during Gelation

Intensity of the transmitted light through the tungstic acid has been measured dur-ing the gelation process. The transmitted intensity decreased drastically (by a factorof 1 / 20) as time passed. The logarithm of turbidity of the tungstic acid shows lineardependence on log t in the first stage of the gelation, and then the rate of the changeslows down. This behavior can be explained by the change of the light scatteringmechanism found in the previous study. We have estimated volume evolution of thescatterer with the results of the present observation and the radius dependence of in-tensity of the scattered light.
