Temporal Evolution of Patterns in Quenched Twisted-Nematic Cells : Dynamics and Fractal

The temporal evolutions of the assembly of disclination lines, as well as of a singleline, are studied from the fractal viewpoint. It has turned out that the fractal dimen-sion of the assembly is almost 2, while that of the single line is 1 .65. We confirmed thevalidity of the relation 7t = (D - D.)v, where p and V' are the exponents with respect tothe disclination length and the characteristic lerrgth, respectively, and D and D. arethe fractal and topological dimensions, respectively.disclination, dynamical scaling law, fractal, tvv'isted nematics, pattern formation
