Ferroelectric Phase Transition in Li_<2-x>Na_xGe_4O_9(x=0.5)

Single crystals of Li_<1.5> Na_<0.5>Ge_4O_9 are grown by the Czochralski method from stoichiometric melt. It has been found that this crystal shows ferroelectric activity in the a-direction of the crystal axis below T_c= 192 K. The spontaneous polarization and the coercive field at 185.5 K are 0.52 μC/cm^2 and 1.4 kV/cm, respectively. The dielectric constant of the a-axis shows an anomalous increase at T_c. The Curie constant C is about 9.0×10^2K above T_c at 10 kHz.
