Formation of High Energy Electron Tail during rf Plasma Current Start-Up in the WT-2 Tokamak

By injecting the lower hybrid wave (LHW) into the microwave discharge at the elec-iron cyclotron (EC) resonance in the WT-2 toroidal device, the plasma current isstarted up and sustained by rf power alone (rf tokamak). Here the high energy elec-trons are generated initially by EC heating, then accelerated resonantly with LHWand the plasma current is carried by the high energy electron tail. Temporal andspatial evolutions of this high energy electron tail are studied by soft and hard X-raysemitted from the rf tokamak plasma,
