Improvement of Power Transmission for Fundamental Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating System in GAMMA 10 Central Cell

For improvement of the central-cell electron cyclotron resonance heating (C-ECRH) system in GAMMA 10, a new launcher has been designed. The new launcher consists of one mirror and an open-ended waveguide with an inner diameter of $D=45$ mm, which is larger than $D=31.75$ mm in the present launcher. The shape of the mirror installed under the open end of the waveguide is determined with our electromagnetic code for the radiation profile to be axisymmetrical on the resonance surface. The power transmission rate of the microwave beam to the resonance surface increases, and the total Poynting flux reaching the plasma becomes 88%, which is about 1.5 times larger than that obtained by the present launcher. Transmission rate is confirmed by a test measurement with a low-power source. When using a waveguide with a larger $D$ of 63.5 mm, the power transmission rate increases and reaches 95%.
