Ultrasonic Study of K_2SeO_4 in the Temperature Range of the Incommensurate Phase Transition

Ultrasonic velocities of K_2SeO_4 were measured in the temperature range of the incommensurate phase transition. At the transition temperature T_I, c_<33> shows a larger jump than c_<11> and c_<22>, and below T_I, c_<44> shows a larger variation than c_<55> and c_<66>. The critical index β obtained from the temperature dependence of the increment of c_<44> below T_I was found to be 0.34±0.03.
