e specific heat capacity of Pb.-,Ge.Te has been measured by means of a.c.calorimetrv method in x rannins from 0.05 to 0.3. We found that the specificheat car>acitv exhibits a sterlike behavior at T. UP to .v=0.07 and additionallycritical behavior becomes arr>reciable at x=0.3. These trends are verv similarto those in Snz->Ge>Te. The anomalous srecific heat above T. was founa to tutwell to logarithmic law. The jump 4C, is 0.92 J mol=' K-" in the crystal with,v=0.05, which is comparable with the value 0.87Jmol-'K-' estimated byusing the Landau-type free energy expansion coefficients by Sugai et at. Theincrease of IC, with T. is well explained by assuming that T. is close to tricriticalpaint.
