In our previous papers [I. Hatta, K. Fujii, A. Sakakibara, F. Takahashi, Y. Hamada and Y. Kaneda: Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 38 (1999) 2988 and F. Takahashi, Y. Hamada and I. Hatta: Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. 38 (1999) 5278], we proposed the conditions required for precise ac calorimetric thermal diffusivity measurement along the surface of a plate-like sample by a distance-variation method. It was concluded that the method could be applied even to relatively thick samples although it had been originally developed for the thermal diffusivity measurement of thin samples. To confirm the above facts, we performed the thermal diffusivity measurement for thick samples of ceramics and glass, with thicknesses in the range of 50 to 750 $\mu$m. The results of the obtained thermal diffusivities for these samples are considered to be satisfactory for such thick samples.
