New oscillatory structures starting at the wavelengths of the atomic forbiddentransitions from 'P. to the grouutd states have been f'ound in No. and Ar, emissioncontinua in the vacuum ultraviolet for low current (I< l mA) glow discharge ina liquid-nitrogen cooled discharge tube. These continua are associated withl.('P.) states, and it is found that this state of Ne. has a potential hump.
