For rubidium atom perturbed by xeuxon, absorption measurements lhave beenmade to observe collisiota-incuded dipole transitions 5.5 -7Z.5 (w='10 and 11), -nd,(8<z<16) attd -nq (7<77<15), where q stands for the manifold state.s of />3.The w-depettdeuace of the measured effective oscillator strengths is reprocluced wellby the approximate calculation usiztg a simple model based on the interaction ofa Rydberg electron with a XCIIOII atom, although the calculation gives largervalues than the. experiment by a factor of about 4.
