Outer 2s-Shell Electron Excitation Emission from C-, N-and O-Impurity Ions in Linear Z-Pinch He Plasma

Emission from C-, N- and O-imj>urity ions in linear z-pinch He plasma was measuredin 2 1500 -500 A region. The experimental results suggest that the emission of thetransitions 2s2p'-2s"2p" ' in impurity ions X... is induced by the charge exchangeprocess, He' (Is) -F-X. (2s'2p")-+I]e (Is') f X',.. (2s2p"), and that this process leads tothe population inversion in X... ions.
