The relative production rates of Cs^+_2 ions produced through two-photon ionization of cesium dimers Cs_2 were measured in the wavelength range 620-670 nm. The calculated production rates of Cs^-_2 ions produced via the intermediate state C ^1Π_u from X ^1Σ^+_g agreed fairly well with the experimental results. The production rates via the intermediate state ^1Σ^+_u, which is close to C ^1Π_u, were calculated. The calculated results, however, showed the completely different function of wavelength from that of the experimental results. Thus we concluded that Cs^-_2 ions are mainly produced by the processes via the intermediate state C ^1Π_u. It was made clear that most of the cesium dimers Cs_2 excited in the super excited states Cs^**_2 by absorption of two photons are autoionized to produce Cs^+_2 ions.
