A New Grazing Incidence Spectrometer and Extreme Ultraviolet Spectra of Light Impurity Ions in Linear Pinch Plasmas

A 1-m grazing incidence spectrometer has been constructed which is applicable to photographic and photoelectric recordings of spectra in the extreme UV (XUV) of 50 to 1500 Å with both a holographic grating (HG) and a ruled one (RG), Incidence angle α to the gratings is continuously variable from 80° to 86°, where the inverse Vodar mounting keeps a constant line of sight of the spectrometer against a light source. The spectrometer was used to observe emission from impurity C-, O-, F- and S-ions in linear pinch He plasmas. Assignment was performed on all ion lines in photographed spectra, and the nature of spectra taken with the HG and RG was examined as a function of α. Photoelectric measurements were also carried out on OII- to OVI-ion lines, and some characteristics of impurity emissions from the linear pinch He plasmas have been observed.
