High Field Magnetoresistance and de Haas-van Alphen Effect in UGe_2

• We have measured the magnetoresistance and de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) effect inthe ferromagnetic compound UGe.. It is found that UGe. is a compensated metalwhose Fermi surface supports open orbits, along the b- and c-axes of the orthorhom-bic crystal structure. From the dHvA experiment, we have detected carriers withheavy cyclotron masses, ranging from 2.3m. to 24.5m?.magnetoresistance, de Haas-van Alphen effect, UGe.
