Incommensurate Magnetic Phases in NdIn_3 near T_N

Neutron diffraction studies reveal the presence of two incommensurate magneticphases (IC. and IC.) between the paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic (AF) phases ofthe rare-earth compound Ndln, in a narrow temperatttre range just below T.=6 K,where the collinear magnetic momexats parallel to the tetragonal c axis are rectangu-larly modulated along the c axis. VVith decreasing temperature, the modulation wavenumber changes discontinuously from -O.O4c" in the IC. phase through -0.016("in the IC2 phase to Oc' in the AF phase.
