Magnetoresistance Study of Bi and Bi-Sb Alloys in High Magnetic Fields.I.Enhancement of Shubnikov-de Haas Oscillation Amplitude in Bi-Sb Alloys

Shubnikov-de Haas effect was observed in Bi and Bi...-,Sb. alloys (x is theatomic percentage of Sb) with .X'=0.I, 0.5 ancl 1.4 in ptulsed high magnetic fieldsup to 45 T. It was fotund that the relative amplitude of qtuantttm oscillation wasgreatly enhanced, by dopir?g a small amotunt of Sb into pure Bi. An explanationis made for the enhancement of Shtubnikov-de I-Iaas oscillation based upon thetheory of the diffusion size effect, assumirng that the bulk electron-hole recombina-tion time is much smaller in Bi... ,Sb, tlxan in Bi.
