Magnetic Properties of Fe_3 Pt Invar Alloys in High Magnetic Fields

The magnetization of FeePt Invar allovs with various Ionx ranue order r>aram=eters has been measured in hixh mannetic fields UP to 250 k0e. The relationshipbetween the Curie temperature and the order parameter was obtained, and wasinterr>reted in terms of the two >' states model, in which the excitation energybetween the low spin states and the hiuh spin states of Fe depends on the localenvironment of the Fe atoms. In disordered FeePt alloys, a non-unique localenvironment, that is, inhomoseneit>' of the order r>arameter, causes non-linearArrott plots.
