Interband Magneto-Optics of n-Type Modulation-Doped GaAs-AlGaAs Multi-Quantum Wells in High Magnetic Fields up to 40 T

Free carrier effects on the absorption and photoluminescence spectra were exten-sively investigated in n-type modulation-doped GaAs-Al.Ga. .As multi-quantumwelts in pulsed high magnetic fields up to 40 T. The magneto-optical spectra weremeasured as a function of temperature. Near the absorption edge, we have observedanomalous sharp peaks which have different temperature and magnetic fielddependence from the ordinary excitons. The nature of the anomalous peaks is dis-cussed in terms of the Fermi edge singularity. The oscillatory magneto-optical spectraare analysed based on the Landau levels in the n-type quantum well potential.
