Recombination rrocesses of radiation-induced defects in KBr have beenstudied below 60 K bar means of detectinn the r>olarization of the thermolumines-cence. A definite (110) dichroism is found in both the x and o emission com-r>onents of the slow reak at '?28 K in the crvstal where the H and Vx centers havebeen alisned rreviousl>' alonn the [IT0] direction bar irradiatins with El 101-r>olarizedlinht. Since the H center is known to lose its memorv of orientation around 16 K,the results obtained lead to the conclusion that the glow peak near 28 K arisesfrom the recombination of free electrons with Vy; centers, not from the F-Hrecombination.
