Optical conversion between two types of relaxed exciton states in RbCl:I has beeninvestigated by means of double excitation method. When the crystal irradiated withArF-excimer laser pulse is excited su bsequently with N.-laser pulse, emission from therelaxed exciton of one-center type localized on the site of an I ion (NE emission) oc-curs. Generation of the NE omission is accompanied by a simultaneous decrease ofemission from the relaxed exciton of two-center type with the configuration of[ICl -1-el (7l?G emission). Intensity change of induced NE emission as a function ofdelay of N.-Baser pulse irradiation was found to reflect decay times of BG emission. Itis concluded that relaxed exciton of two-center type can be converted optically to thatof one-center type via its hole-excited state.
