Neutron Diffraction Study on Crystal and Magnetic Structures of α-Mn (Cr) and α-Mn (Fe) Alloys

The occupation probability of Fe or Cr atoms on the four crystallographicallydifferent sites of cv-Mn has been measured by means of neutron diffraction. The ex-perimental results are explained by considering the attractive interaction between thehost and impurity atoms in addition to the space-filling concept. The magnetic struc-Lures of the alloys are also determined and are discussed based on the relation to thevariation of the N<Set temperatures with the alloy composition, estimated from thetemperature variation of the specific heat and the electrical resistivity.
