For an antiferromagnetic Cu) 5 Mng5 single crystal, strong diffuse scatteringwith 0.2Sa' FWHM was observed around the {1/2 1 0} reciprocal lattice pointsat room temperature. The study on their scattering vector dependence as well astheir temperature variation revealed that the atomic short range correlation ofDO.. type gives large contributions to diffuse scattering and that the magneticcontribution is small even if it exists.
