Magnetic Moment of Cr and Mn Atoms in bcc Fe-Co Alloys Determind by Polarized Neutron Scattering

An experiment of a diffuse scattering of polarized neutrorns was carried out inan attempt to determine the magnetic moment of GCr (or Mn) atoms in bcc Fe-Coalloys. It is concluded that an addition of Cr together with Co into host Fe, keepingthe same number of 3#-electrons as that of pure Fe, diminishes the absolute valueof the antiparaljel moment of Cr in the ternary alloys more rapidly than in Fe-Crbinary alloys, while an addition of Mn in the same way enhances the parallelmoment of Mn in the ternary alloys more rapidly than in Fe -Mn binary alloys.
