Mossbauer Effect of Ir^<193> and Fe^<57> in Fe-Pt-Ir Alloys

The M6ssbauer effects have been studied for both Fe" and Ir"' nuclei in an alloyseries of Fe..Pt.. .Ir. (,v=0, l, 3, 5, 8, 10, 15 and 20) with f'.c.c. structure, and thevalues of hyperfine field and isomer shift have been deduced. It has been revealed thatthe alloy system of Fe..Pt.. .Ir. has two magnetic regions, one is ferromagnetic(X< 8) and the other a spin glasss state (x >8). Though the bulk magnetization vanishesin the spin glass state, finite hyperfine fields are found at botlt Fe and Ir nuclei. Theresults are interpreted from the view point of environment effect. The magnetic momentof Fe decreases rapidly by the existence of Ir atoms in its nearest neighbor shell, andtakes the opposite direction to the bulk magnetization when there are two or more Iratoms. The concentration dependence of the isomer shift is interpreted in terms of thevolume magnetostruction.
