The lattice dielectric constant of pseudobinary alloys of Pb_<1-x>Sn_xTe has been measured by making use of the interference of magnetoplasma waves with effective dielectric constant composed of the lattice and plasma parts. The dependence of lattice dielectric constant on the carrier density as well as on the tin composition is explained in terms of the softening of TO-phonon mode through interband electron-phonon coupling.
