Quantum oscillations of the velocity of 20 MHz sound wave were measured in asingle crystal of antimony in magnetic fields up to 23 k0e at l . 15 K. It was foundthat the amplitude of oscillation due to the principal electrons is anomalouslylarge and amounts to ?4V,/ V,l,x6.7 XIO ' at 22 k0e. The line shape is alsodifferent from the density of states-like behaviour. Quantitative analysis wasmade using the non-ellpsoidal energy surface (the Cohen ntodel) for electrons. It was shown that the large amplitude and the symmetric line shape are related tothe almost cylindrical but slightly concave nature of the energy surface.
