The magnetic equivalence of the isocyanides in Ni(RNC)<SUB>3</SUB>(TCNE) and Co(NO)(RNC)<SUB>2</SUB>(TCNE) is more likely to be due to the free rotation of TCNE in solution than to the dissociative exchange of ligands.
