Acid treatment (conc. H_2SO_4-Ac_2O) of a p-quinol acetate (VIII) derived from phenolic (±)-1-phenethylisoquinoline (III) by means of Pb (OAc)_4 oxidation was found to afford readily (±)-O-acetylhomoaporphine (I). consequently, synthesis of (±)-kreysigine (II) was accomplished via the corresponding p-quinol acetate (XV).
