Effect of Insoluble Medium Component on the Productivity of Tissue Plasminogen Activator by Cells on Microcarriers

In spite of doubling the frequency of medium replacement, the TPA productivity per unit culture volume in a culture with 6 g/l microcarrier beads was only 1.5 times that with 3 g/l beads. Using a concentrated production medium, the productivity of the production culture with 6 g/l beads was twice that with 3g/l microcarrier beads. Doubling the concentration of only the insoluble components in the production medium raised the productivity of the production culture using cells with 6 g/l microcarrier beads to just twice that with 3 g/l beads.
