Temperature Dependence of the ν_2 Band of PO_4 Tetrahedrons in Rb_<1-x>(NH_4)_xH_2PO_4 Mixed Crystals

The V2 band of P03 tetrahedrons in Rb. .(NO.).H.P0. mixed crystals has beenmeasured in the temperature region from 30 K to room temperature by Raman spec-troscopy. Peculiar temperature dependence in the frequency and shape of the v. bandof PG. tetrahedrons which reflects the structure cltange in the mixed crystals has beenfound. The temperature dependence is well understood if we assume the existence offerroelectric and antiferroelectric clusters in the mixed crystals below the onset tem-perature of a structure change; PG. tetrahedrons themselves and the surrounding ionsin the ferroelectric and antiferroelectric clusters are ordered into the ferroelectric andantiferroelectric configurations, respectively.
