Optical and Dilatometric Studies of KCaCl_3 and RbCaCl_3 Crystals

Phase transitions in KCaCl, and RbCaCl. were investigated by means ofoptical and dilatometric measurements. It was suggested from these investigationsthat on heating from room temperature both crystals transform from the ortho-rhombic phase to the tctragonal phase and then to the cubic phase. This transitionsequence is in contrast with the one observed in other perovskite trichloridessuch as CsPbCI., CsSrCl. and RbCdCl. which have two different orthorhombicphases.
