Polarized Raman scattering spectra of LiGa,0. are observed at room temperature.Two adjacent peaks are newly found in a low frequency region (128 and 135 cm ').By the site symmetry consideration, we concluded that these peaks correspond to thedoubly degenerate and the non-degenerate modes of the translational motion ofGap. at the tetrahedral site. These two modes are the ones derived by splitting of thetriply degenerate translational mode in the disordered state when the order-disordertransition occurs at ll40'C.
