The internaolecular repulsions are approximately introduced into the molecularfield theory of multi-component system of nematogens develojced by Humphries-James-Luckhurst" (H-J-L), and its effects on nematic-isotropic transition fern-peratures are investigated in binary mixtures of nematogens. From the com-parison of the theoretical and experimental results, one can conclude that theinterntolecular repulsions are also important to treat the nematic-isotropic phasetransition in binary mixtures in addition to the intermolectul?rr attractions. It isfound that the effects of the intermolecular repulsions tend to lower the nematuc-isotropic transition temperatures in binary mixtures.
