An e[ectrohydrodynamic instability in homeotropic:ally aligned nematic sampleswith positive dielectric anisotropy is presented. The analogy between the presentinstability and the thermally induced instabilities is found in experiments. It ispointed out that the effects of the charge injection due to the thermionic omissionprocess and of the diffusion cttrrent must be taken into account to explain thepresently observed new domains.
