Effect of Local Environment on Formation of Local Moments in bcc Fe-Cr Alloys-Mossbauer Study

The M6ssbauer spectra of Fe-Cr solid solutions in the concentration razageof 60-96 at %C?r were obtained at 5 K. These sj>ectra were analyzed to yieldhyperfine field distribution curves which are characterized by two distinct peaks.It has been revealed that an isolated Fe atom hzrs a very small hyperfine fieldindicating a norumagnetic character. The profiles of' the hyperfine field distributioncurves as well as the magnetic properties of tht.c alloys, particttlarly near thecritical concentration for ferromagnetism, are disc:ussed on the basis of the localenvironment model.
