Mossbauer Study on Nonequilibrium Disordered Fe-Al Alloys Produced by DC Sputtering

M6ssbauer spectra of Fe. ..Al. alloys produced by facing target type DC sputteringhave been measured for .X'<0.75 at room temperature and 4.2 K . In the bcc alloys,hyperfine field distributions obtained by analyzing these spectra can be divided intothree components characterized by three broad maxima. A nearest neighbor environ-ment model, assuming random distribution of atoms, was successfully applied to ex-plain the magnetic behavior of bcc alloys indicating that the sputtered Feel alloys arein disordered state. The lattice constants of the bcc Fe-Al alloys were discussed in con-nection with the magnetic moment.[Fe-Al Alloy, sputtering, magnetic moment, M6ssbauer effect, local environ- l% mentl]
