An Investigation of V^<2+> Impurity Center in KMgF_3 and KZnF_3 by ^<51>V-ENDOR Measurements

"V-ENDOR measurements for a substitutional V" impurity center in KMgF.and KZnF. have been made using a microwave frequency of 35 GHz. The spin-Hamiltonian parameters including higher order hyperfine interaction termU(S'l) have been determined as following values: A= -258.337f0.005 MHz,.(,/7./A=(l1.255f0.005)x 10 ' MHz/G, &=0.l10,g0.005 MHz for KMgF., andJ=-259.l57.g0.005 MHz, ,(./7.//z=(ll.260.j0.005)xl0 ' MHz/G, &=0.ll8.50.005 MHz for KZnF3. To interprete the parameter U, calculation for V" ina cubic octahedral crystalline field including the contribution from excited 'Gterm is carried out. Other parameters are also discussed. A new value for thenuclear magnetic moment of "V nucleus is proposed.
